What Is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy helps your pet recover, move better, and feel more comfortable. Just like in human medicine, it uses guided exercises, stretches, and movements to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility.

At BCVC, therapy programs are tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Your pet will first be evaluated by our veterinary team to create a personalized plan focused on safe and gradual progress.

Because our pets can’t tell us how they feel, we rely on careful observation and hands-on guidance to ensure every session is effective and comfortable.

How Physical Therapy Helps (Medical Benefits)

Physical therapy can support pets with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Age-related stiffness or slowing down

  • Arthritis and joint pain

  • Mobility or weight-related issues

  • Recovery after surgery (such as orthopedic procedures)

  • Muscle injuries or weakness

  • Neurological conditions

Therapy is designed to be gentle and supportive, not painful. Many pets actually enjoy their sessions and become more active and confident over time.

Each treatment plan is customized based on:

  • Your pet’s condition and medical history

  • Their comfort level and personality

  • Your goals for their recovery or long-term care

Some pets need short-term rehab, while others benefit from ongoing therapy to maintain mobility and quality of life.

Technology & At-Home Support

We combine in-clinic care with easy to use tools so you can stay involved in your pet’s progress.

One of the key tools we use is Wibbi, a simple app that helps you:

  • Follow daily exercise plans

  • Watch step-by-step video demonstrations

  • Receive reminders and updates from our team

  • Track your pet’s progress and comfort levels

For at home exercises, some pets may use basic equipment like balance discs or foam blocks. More advanced tools like specialized pet treadmills are available in-clinic when needed.

If home exercises aren’t a good fit, we also offer in-clinic therapy sessions handled by our trained team.

Our goal is simple-help your pet move better, feel better, and live more comfortably. We guide you every step of the way, from the first evaluation to ongoing progress so you feel confident supporting your pet’s recovery at home and beyond!
